Απώλειες κατέγραψε και σήμερα η πλειοψηφία των ευρωπαϊκών χρηματιστηρίων, εν μέσω ανησυχιών για διατήρηση των υψηλών επιτοκίων επί μακρό χρονικό διάστημα, μετά και τα νέα στοιχεία για τις ανοικτές θέσεις εργασίας που δημοσιεύθηκαν σήμερα στις ΗΠΑ, με την απόδοση του αμερικανικού δεκαετούς ομολόγου να βρίσκεται σε υψηλό δεκαέξι ετών.
Ο δείκτης Stoxx 600 έκλεισε στις 440,80 μονάδες με απώλειες 1,07%, προσεγγίζοντας χαμηλά έξι μηνών.
Στην Φρανκφούρτη ο δείκτης DAX έκλεισε στις 15.082,70 μονάδες με απώλειες 1,08%, παραμένοντας με σήμα strong sell, με την αντίσταση να βρίσκεται στις 15.238 μονάδες και την στήριξη στις 14.789 μονάδες.

Στο Λονδίνο ο δείκτης FTSE 100 έκλεισε στις 7.470,31 μονάδες με απώλειες 0,54%, παραμένοντας με σήμα strong sell, με την αντίσταση να βρίσκεται στις 7.626 μονάδες και την στήριξη στις 7.444 μονάδες.

Character Group expects to report a strong performance for the year ended August 31, in line with management predictions. The U.K. independent toy company said on Tuesday that it expects full-year underlying profitability to meet current market expectations due to the strength of the group’s portfolio, despite challenging conditions. It didn’t provide a specific financial figure.
Greggs backed its full-year expectations after a robust third-quarter performance that was boosted by higher customer footfall in the evening, and its app-based loyalty program. The U.K. bakery chain on Tuesday said total sales for the third quarter were up 21%, with like-for-like sales in company-managed shops rising by 14% compared with the same period in 2022.
- The company said like-for-like sales were boosted by an increase in evening trade–sales after 4 p.m.–which represented 8.8% of the company-managed shop sales, up from 8.3% in the first half. Greggs app transactions also rose, accounting for 13.1% of company-managed sales compared with 10.6% in the same comparative period.
“Whilst acknowledging the uncertainty in the economy as a whole and the very strong comparative performance of the business in the fourth quarter of 2022, the board expects the full-year outcome to be in line with its previous expectations,” it said.
Wizz Air Holdings carried 5.5 million passengers in September compared with 4.6 million for the same month of 2022. The central and eastern European low-cost airline said Tuesday that for the rolling 12-month period, it carried 57.6 million passengers compared with 41.1 million a year before. Load factor–a measure of how full a plane is–was 92.4% in the month, compared with 87.1% a year prior.
AstraZeneca has agreed to settle product liability litigations related to Nexium and Prilosec in the U.S. by making a payment of $425 million, it said. The Anglo-Swedish pharma giant said Tuesday that it has resolved the litigations under confidential terms.
- The settled claims were pending in the Multidistrict Litigation District Court of New Jersey, as well as in the Delaware Superior Court and the New Jersey Superior Court. The company said a single case remains pending in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Trial is scheduled for April 15, 2024.
Nexium and Prilosec are used to treat acid-related symptoms.
DX (Group) posted a rise in its pretax profit for fiscal 2023 and said performance for the first quarter of fiscal 2024 was in line with its expectations. The London-listed delivery company on Tuesday reported a pretax profit of 25.4 million pounds ($30.7 million) for the year ended July 1, compared with GBP17.4 million the previous year. Revenue rose to GBP471.2 million from GBP428.2 million, driven by performance at both of its DX Express and DX Freight divisions, it said.
- “We are mindful of the current economic headwinds, however, given the strong platform that we have established and the encouraging levels of new business that we have secured in the opening months of the new financial year, we look forward to another year of further progress,” Chief Executive Paul Ibbetson said. The group proposed a final dividend of 1.0 pence per share, bringing the total payout for the fiscal year to 1.5 pence, compared with no dividend the previous year.
Dufry is now called Avolta, the duty-free airport retailer said late Monday.
The Swiss-based company’s name change reflects its acquisition of Autogrill, the Italian travel food-and-beverage retailer, earlier this year. Autogrill was delisted in July. The new brand is the next step in an ongoing integration process, the company said.
