Iofina said it has signed an agreement with a new brine supply partner to construct its latest iodine plant, and said that while production rose on year, it sees second-half production toward the lower end of its forecasts. The London-listed iodine producer said the new IO10 plant in western Oklahoma will be situated in the same core area as IO9, next to a key junction in its partner’s water gathering system. It is already working on design elements to deliver maximum brine to the new site. The new plant will be funded through existing cash and loan facilities, with initial work set to start in the fourth quarter. The company also said crystalline iodide production rose in the third quarter to 156.9 metric tons from 143 tons a year prior. This includes a first contribution from plant IO9. While IO9 production is starting to increase output, Iofina said the ramp-up of production at the plant has proven more difficult than expected. As such, second-half production is trending toward the lower end of its forecast of 325-350 tons. “The company continues to experience strong sales, supported by the ongoing robust iodine prices. Whilst the ramp up of IO9 has taken slightly longer than planned, we are working closely with our partner to increase water volumes to the new plant, and we are starting to see an increased output through October,” President and Chief Executive Dr. Tom Becker said.

ProCook Group has reported a fall in second-quarter revenue given softer business in September and early October as customers seek out greater value and promotional offers, and despite a strong summer sale performance in July and August. The kitchenware brand said Friday that for the second quarter ended Oct. 15 revenue was down 1.8% to 15.7 million pounds ($19.1 million) compared with the same period a year earlier. Revenue was up 0.8% on a continuing business basis, which excludes the impact of the exit from Amazon EU last year, it added. Overall revenue for the half year fell 3.8% to GBP26.3 million, or 1.2% excluding the Amazon EU exit, the company said. “Trading conditions remain challenging, and we continue to operate in an uncertain consumer and macroeconomic environment. We are focused on delivering even greater value for our customers throughout the important peak trading period and beyond,” Chief Executive Officer Lee Tappenden said. ProCook said that it usually generates around 60% of sales in the second half of the year and is well prepared for the peak trading period.

Ethernity Networks said it has received a settlement notice from 5G Innovation Leaders Fund of $90,000 following a share subscription deal from February last year. The provider of data-processing products said Friday that it has issued and allotted 37.1 million new shares at 0.2 pence each in the company to the investors. On Monday, the company said it had received a demand letter from 5G Innovation Leaders Fund requesting immediate repayment of $1.3 million outstanding under the agreement of a share subscription in February 2022. The remaining outstanding balance under the subscription deal is $1,246,000, it added.

Harland & Wolff Group Holdings said it was awarded 61 million-pound ($74.1 million) contract for a major vessel refurbishment by Canadian oil and natural-gas company Cenovus Energy. The U.K. strategic-infrastructure-projects company said Friday that revenue from the contract are included within management’s revenue expectations of GBP100 million for 2023 and GBP200 million for 2024. Around GBP10 million is expected to be received in 2023, with the rest the following year. The contract award follows a letter of intent issued in late July. The vessel, which is should arrive in the first quarter of 2024, will be in its building dock for more than three months. Pre-arrival works have kicked off and some fabrication works will start before the end of the year, Harland & Wolff said. Up to 1,000 people will be working on the vessel at its peak, including staff and subcontractors, it said.

InterContinental Hotels Group said third-quarter revenue per available room increased on year and compared with the same period in 2019, as travel demand remained healthy. The company said on Friday that 3Q revenue per available room rose 10.5% on year and went up 12.8% against the 2019 comparable period. The FTSE-100 hotel chain added that revenue per available room in the third quarter represented the fifth quarter of sequential improvement exceeding prepandemic highs. The average daily rate for the period was 4.1% higher than 2022, and 14.8% higher than in 2019. Occupancy was 4.1 percentage points higher than in 2022 but 1.3 percentage points lower than in the same period in 2019. Group-wide occupancy was once percentage point behind 2019 at 72% “which further confirms the near-complete return to pre‑Covid-19 levels of demand.” IHG said it was on track to return $1 billion to shareholders in 2023 via share buybacks and dividend payments. “We’re confident in the strengths of IHG’s business model, scale and in our strategic priorities to capture sustainable, profitable growth ,” the company said.

Autins Group said gross profits rose in fiscal 2023 on continued sales momentum in the second half of the year, and that it sees further growth in the current fiscal year. The London-listed insulation specialist said Friday that it expects to report sales of 22.5 million pounds ($27.3 million) for the year ended Sept. 30, representing a 20% increase from fiscal 2022’s GBP18.8 million. The rise was boosted by a 7.5% increase in second half-year sales to GBP11.7 million, as the company continued to win new business, it said. Gross profit is expected to have risen around 55% to GBP6.5 million, driven by the increased revenue and a strong margin recovery of 6.5 percentage points to 28.9%. Earnings before interests, depreciation and amortization are expected to have swung to GBP1.0 million from a loss of GBP1.1 million a year prior. The board forecast a continued recovery in the automotive market and therefore sees further growth in sales and Ebitda in fiscal 2024.

Record PLC said its assets under management equivalent slipped over the second quarter of fiscal 2024 as negative market movements over the period wiped out its net inflows. The U.K. specialist-currency and asset manager on Friday said its assets under management equivalent stood at $84.5 billion at Sept. 30 compared with $86.4 billion three months prior. It posted $1.5 billion in net inflows for the quarter, which were offset by $1.5 billion in negative foreign-exchange movements and mandate volatility targeting and $1.9 billion in negative global stock and other markets movements. The London-listed group made 1.0 million pounds ($1.2 million) in performance fees in the quarter and said its average fee rates were flat on quarter. “Our plans for diversification through our asset management and digital asset businesses continue to progress well, albeit in places more gradually than initially envisaged,” Chief Executive Leslie Hill said.
